This is a soft-launcher that fires nanobot shells of varying types. Shells are formed within the ammo cartridges from specialized nanobatteries, and released via directed acceleration fields. Upon hitting a target, they cling to it and coat it as uniformly as possible. Sounds lame, right? The interesting part is that depending on the ammo type, these nanobots can do some awesome things like generating electrical currents or superheating the surface with chemical reactions. Even better, Specialized "orders" can be given to the shells pre-launch via PSI Unit to tweak their capabilities, desired area, power and duration. Great for parties and your legendary +1 swords. Generally not a good idea to fire at a human.

  • Ammo: Comes with four cartridges. Two to three uses per cartridge. Extra cartridges are four for a credit.

Additional Details

  • Damage dealt (if any) depends on ammo type
  • Coats the surface area (if possible) with a uniform layer
  • Does not spread to objects subsequently touched
  • Can be pre-programmed to only spread a certain distance from the impact point
  • Shells are soft-launched and gentle enough to spread to handheld objects, provided your aim is good enough

Shell types:

Electrical

  • Generates an electrical current over the surface of the object
  • Electricity is potent and transferred painfully to anything that touches it
  • Lasts for up to thirty minutes, or until power is depleted
  • Good as a deterrent
  • Not good as a power source

Superheated

  • Upon coating the object with thermal insulation, the outer surface begins to burn via controlled chemical reactions
  • Burns for up to thirty minutes, or until cooled
  • Good for melting things that attempt to touch the target
  • Can easily redirect heat-seekers

Slick

  • Smears readily onto anything that touches it while also pushing it away, causing the object to "hover" and slide across the surface
  • Continues until completely dissipated
  • Blunt impacts are much less effective
  • Can be used as lubrication for anything that needs to go more smoothly

Armor

  • Bonds with the target material, strengthening it with carbon nanotubes
  • Lasts indefinitely
  • Makes things considerably tougher
  • Can make bending parts solid and brittle

Glow

  • Causes the surface of the target to glow brightly
  • Phosphorescent glow emits very little heat
  • Easily visible even at a distance

Goo

  • Upon completing the spread, nanobots prepare to latch onto any objects that touch
  • Does not guaranteed that the full object cannot escape once "stuck", but will make sure to rip off anything that touches it
  • Goo stays sticky indefinitely; can only be ruined by having many things stuck and pulled away
  • Makes you sound like a four-year-old when you talk about it

Supercooling

  • Forms tiny, highly efficient heatsinks and radiators on any surface
  • Quickly radiates heat into space, provided the space around it is cold (like space)
  • Doesn't work as well in an atmosphere, but may still have some effect
  • Good for disguising things

Corrosion

  • Doesn't last long
  • Eats into the underlying surface and weakens it considerably, over a large area
  • Can be programmed to weaken surfaces by making them either soft, thin, flakey, or brittle
  • Extremely effective at weakening armor; can go deep or spread out
